A good song but a better
question...... This was a question an elderly person with whom i go for
a walk everyday asked me.He told me he asked the same question to his
son on his B-Day..... He just celebratd his birthday and frankly, he is
not happy with his advancing age. He told me"I am dread the day my relatives decide the best place for me is an 'old age home'...."
These words of his made me write this post..... with all my mind and heart......
Why aren't we able to take care of our elders????
We have so much to share with the elderly and they have so much to give us to life experience, so what's stopping us from embracing the inevitable link with them.
Our youth- obsessed society treats them as if they are stupid simply because they are a little slow in a changing world... being elderly doesn't mean they have to change at all; today older people have the spending power, zest, and time for fuller life.... but the key is money - being poor and old in todays worls is surely an ugly situation to be in......
I feel truly uncomfortable passing a bus stop where older people are standing, waiting and waiting for a simple trip to the shop... But my fear is that should I stop and offer a lift to a stranger, they will feel threatened by this weird act of attempeted random kindness and accuse me for being like that !!!!!!!
I truly dont know what will our sons and daughters will do with us in our old age?
I am only 24 and am scared about my old age already!!!!!!!!!!!
